Johnson--Vetres V.

Vetres V. Johnson, 82, died January 5, 2018, at her home. Born November 19, 1935, in Enfield, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Hattie Mae Davis Johnson and Joseph Johnson. She lived in the Bronx, N.Y. and then Harlem, New York  before moving to Jersey City, NJ. in 1996. She retired in 1998 as a Customer Service Representative for Verizon after 30 years of service. She was a longtime member of The Antioch Baptist Church in Harlem.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Robert A. Johnson. Devoted Mother of Cassandra Chiles, Charlene Maye, Felicia Jackson, and Sean Johnson. Loving Grandmother of Shante D. Powers-Gaskins, Ian J. Chiles, Riley L. Maye III, Shavon N. Jackson and, Michael A. Jackson, Jr., and Great-Grandmother of Kaelah I. Gaskins, Christan Q. Gaskins and Elias D. Gaskins. Beloved Mother-in-law of Joel H. Chiles, Jr., Riley L. Maye, Jr., and Michael A. Jackson. Dear Sister of Shepard M. Johnson of Raleigh, N.C., and the late Addie N. Brown. Cherished Aunt of Vincent E. Brown, Victor M. Brown, Craig J. Brown and Christopher M. Johnson; and a host of relatives, extended family and friends.

Visiting begins Thursday, January 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Home 374 Danforth Ave. Jersey City, N.J. followed by Service at 11:30 a.m. Interment immediately following service at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
